When Site Werneck land was purchased, it was completely devastated. Our first attitude was to plant trees typical of the Atlantic Forest restoring the margin of the Rio das Flores (one of the boundaries of the site) to form a riparian forest and a small increase to the woods that already existed above the source.
In the first stage we planted 220 seedlings of various trees. The next step was to plant 1152 seedlings of 12 different species typical of Atlantic Forest (purchased from Embrapa) on the slopes.
In the production process, there is no "burning". The fuel of the furnace is the bagasse of sugar cane. The transport of cane and bagasse uses animal traction. The vinasse (the residue after distillation) is 100% reused for irrigation / fertilization.
The sewage from houses and other facilities are rigorously dealt with septic tank and filters.
The diverse fauna that includes large variety of birds, mammals such as capybaras and armadillos, lizards, frogs, etc.., is respected and maintained. It is strictly prohibited hunting in the site.
